Catterick's 2024/25 National Hunt Season concluded yesterday, and we're now pleased to announce our Champion Owner, Trainer and Jockey for the season:

CHAMPION OWNER: Exors of the late Mr John Wade and Mrs Wilma Duffus

The Owners leaderboard was very tight this season, with four trainers scoring 2 wins throughout the season. It therefore came down to placings, but even then, our top two couldn’t be separated, both having scored a second placing in addition to their wins.

Our Joint Champion Owners this season are the Exors of the late Mr John Wade and Mrs Wilma Duffus.

The Exors of the late Mr John Wade scored a double at our opening meeting of the season with YOU SOME GIRL and IMPERIAL RULE, while Mrs Wilma Duffus had a win with NOT STAYING LONG on both 17 and 28 December.

CHAMPION TRAINER: Donald McCain

The Trainers contest also came down to placings after Donald McCain, Philip Kirby, Joel Parkinson & Sue Smith and Lizzie Quinlan all enjoyed 4 wins this season. It was Donald McCain however who just comes out on top, with 4 seconds and 6 third placings to add to his tally.

Donald McCain’s winners were PRESENTANDCOUNTING on 22 November, WRAPPED IN RUBIES on 17 December, CONNECT THE DOTS on 22 January and COUNT OF VENDOME on 10 February.

CHAMPION JOCKEY: Brian Hughes

Brian Hughes scored a total of five wins throughout the season, making him Catterick's National Hunt Season Champion Jockey for the fifth year in a row! He also secured 4 seconds and 6 third placings throughout the season. 

Brian’s winners came aboard GAME MANAGEMENT, PRESENTANDCOUNTING and KIDS SAY LASTGOJOE on 22 November, CONNECT THE DOTS on 22 January and COUNT OF VENDOME on 10 February.
