The 2021 Flat season starts at Catterick Racecourse on Wednesday 7 April, along with the welcome return of a limited number of owners to the course.
It will be the first-time owners will be permitted on course since the national lockdown came into force in January.
On 7 April, just two owners (or representatives) per horse will be able to register to attend, however, by Catterick’s next fixture, on Wednesday 21 April, stage 2 of the ‘roadmap’ out of lockdown will be in effect, meaning the course can welcome up to 6 owners per horse again.
In addition, Catterick has three fixtures, on Friday (eve) 21 May, Saturday 29 May, and Friday 4 June, which fall within the third stage of the easing of lockdown meaning a limited number of spectators will be permitted to attend.
Fiona Needham, General Manager and Clerk of the Course said: “We’re delighted at the prospect of being able to have crowds back at the course this summer and have been working hard to ensure we can do so safely. We will still be operating with strict covid-19 regulations and social distancing measures in place to ensure everyone can enjoy their day without worry.”
Whilst the course awaits further detailed guidance and confirmation from the governement and BHA regarding the return of crowds, tickets for the meetings that fall within stage 3 of the government ‘roadmap’ are pending release and not yet on sale. Once released, they will be available for advanced purchase only, via the racecourse website.
Furthermore, Catterick Racecourse is also delighted to confirm that Millbry Hill will continue their generous support of the Champion Jockey series this Flat season, and once again join forces with the Breeze Up Collection to sponsor the Ride of the Meeting Series.
Emma Binnian, Sales and Marketing Manager said: “Millbry Hill have generously supported the Jockeys at Catterick since 2018 and we’re delighted to continue to work closely with them for the upcoming season.
“It’s fantastic to have Breeze Up Collection on board again this season too, as we continue the popular Ride of the Meeting Series – Breeze Up will give a pair of goggles, in addition to the £20 Millbry Hill voucher for each winning Ride of the Meeting.”
Cathy Roche, Sales & Marketing Manager at Breeze Up Collection said: “Breeze Up are delighted to be involved this year and along with Millbry Hill we are delighted to support the Jockeys in anyway we can.”
