Dementia Friendly Richmondshire are organising a local Memory Walk taking place on Saturday 5th October starting at 11am. It will be taking place at Catterick Racecourse to celebrate the racecourse’s work towards becoming a dementia friendly site having recently created over 20 dementia friendly staff.
As well as having large scale Memory Walks the Alzheimer’s Society encourages local smaller scale walks such as this one, Your Walk, Your Way. There will also be a pop up Memory Café at the racecourse from 10am until 12:30pm to raise funds for our local dementia provider, Dementia Forward. The pop up café will be provided by local charity, Colburn Hub and Community Café and everyone is welcome even if you are not taking part in the walk but would like to find out more about dementia services.
The walk has been very kindly hosted by the annual Richmond Walking and Books Festival and is included in their fantastic programme. Now in its 15th year the festival is ran by a dedicated team of passionate volunteers and will run 28th September until 6th October 2019.
