Young racegoers at Catterick’s Racing Careers Day on Monday 12 August are being given the unique opportunity to have a go at some of the different race day roles including race day presenting with jockey interviews, racing photography, Weighing Room officials and reporting on the ground conditions with the Clerk of the Course.
The day will provide a fascinating insight into the many different roles behind the scenes in racing and in addition to the takeover, participants will be taken on a behind the scenes tour of the racecourse, take part in a careers workshop ahead of racing and even test their skills on the Northern Racing College racing simulator.
The kid’s takeover is part of Great British Racing’s Under 18’s Race Free campaign which highlights the fact that under 18’s race free at almost every race meeting at almost every racecourse.
Facilitated by Racing to School, an education charity which delivers free outdoor learning activities for young people at racecourses, studs and trainers’ yards across the country, the Kids’ Takeover Day was first trialled at Bath Racecourse and is being rolled out at several racecourses across the summer.

In addition to the careers events and kid’s takeover, visitor’s to Catterick Racecourse can also enjoy seven thrilling races, starting at 2.15pm, and there will be free children’s entertainment available in the Course Enclosure throughout the afternoon.
Under 18’s race free at all Catterick’s fixtures and do not require a ticket, while adult tickets are available from just £5 for the Course Enclosure or £15 for the Grandstand & Paddock Enclosure. Tickets are available at www.catterickbridge.co.uk.
